The GAD serial numbers begin with GAD- followed by 5 digits.
There are not separate prefixes for each model of guitar, and the serial numbers alone do not provide specific dating information for the instruments.
I know for a fact it has not been modified after it was built.
At some time in late 1990's BENEDETTO came on board at Guild as a consultant for them and made desighn changes in the Artist Award guitar, could this be a prototype or possibly a custom build?
I just purchased a used GAD50 which is a wonderful instrument.
Thought I'd contact Guild/Fender and see when the guitar was built.
But the model says B1 which I cannot find any mention of it in the Guild serial and model numbers listed on the web and I have looked at several sites.
While there are some holes in the historical record, as well as a few anomalies, inconsistencies, and obvious errors in the dating charts, the information complied and presented here is the most comprehensive data we have available for dating Guild guitars.
Please refer to the guides before each chart for information on how to interpret the data.
Please note that if your serial number does not fall on the dating charts on this website it was most likely build on or after 1999 until the Westerly shop closed in middle of 2001.
